This ringing rocks boulder field is hidden in plain sight in a neighborhood near Pottstown. It is one of only three publicly accessible ringing boulder fields in PA!
Ringing rocks boulder fields are an amazing oddity, where, as the name suggests, the rocks produce a range of metallic tones when struck. Some even sound like bells! This boulder field is located in the aptly-named Ringing Hill neighborhood just outside Pottstown, PA.
The easiest way to get to the boulder field is to drive to the Ringing Rocks Roller Rink at address 815 White Pine Ln, Pottstown, PA 19464. The roller rink pictured above is an interesting structure next to the Ringing Hill Fire Company in a wooded suburban neighborhood. You can park in the roller rink parking lot and make your way to the obvious path located at approximately 40.270122, -75.605897, near the northern corner of the roller rink.
Get your hammers ready and have at it! Look for boulders with divots from years of hammer strikes. Or discover new sonorous stones on your own. Watch out for poison ivy on the edge of the boulder field. We visited the ringing rocks on an exceedingly humid day just moments before the remnants of a tropical storm came through the area. The rocks were slippery from the high humidity, so be careful. We recommend visiting on a dry day.

Pennsylvania is blessed with three publicly accessible ringing boulder fields, all located in the southeastern portion of the state. The Pottstown Ringing Rocks boulder filed is the smallest of the three, but very much worth the visit.
